Singapore Changi reclaims the top spot, with all five leading airports proving Asia's dominance. Europe doesn't appear until number six
Singapore Changi Airport has been named Airport of the Year 2026 at the World Airport Awards ceremony. The award caps a remarkable night for Asia, which swept the entire top five
A 14-time winner across the award's history, Singapore's airport had a point to prove, and did so decisively: alongside the overall title, it collected four additional awards, for Best Airport Dining, Best Airport Immigration Service, Best Airport in Asia, and first place in the 60–70 million passenger category.

Asia's clean sweep
Behind Singapore, South Korea's Incheon International holds second place and was voted the World's Most Family-Friendly Airport, no small achievement at one of the world's busiest hubs. Tokyo Haneda climbs to third and claims three individual titles: World's Cleanest Airport (major category), World's Best Domestic Airport, and World's Best Airport Facilities for Passengers with Reduced Mobility.
Hong Kong International, up to fourth, wins the award for Best Airport Washrooms, an unglamorous metric, perhaps, but one that frequent travellers know well. The airport also takes the Best Airport Security Processing. Japan's Narita rounds out the top five.
Japan is the standout national story of the awards. Beyond Haneda and Narita in the top five, Nagoya's Chubu Centrair International (ranked 12th globally) retains its titles as Best Regional Airport, Fukuoka places 18th overall, and two additional Japanese airports collect major honours: Aso Kumamoto wins Best New Airport Terminal, and New Chitose Airport in Hokkaido is named World's Cleanest Airport in the up-to-30-million-passenger category.
Europe: best of the rest

Paris CDG's sixth-place finish extends a strong run, this is the fifth consecutive year it has claimed the Best Airport in Europe title, a consistency that reflects sustained investment in passenger experience. Its sister airport, Paris Orly, takes Best Regional Airport in Europe.
Rome Fiumicino, in seventh place, is named the Best Airport in Southern Europe. Munich (ninth) wins both Best Airport Staff in Europe and Best Airport in Central Europe. Helsinki-Vantaa (11th) claims Best Airport in Northern Europe, a perennial overachiever given its size, while Budapest is again named Best Airport in Eastern Europe.
London Heathrow, ranked 16th overall, takes the award for Best Airport Shopping. It's the kind of recognition that will raise a wry smile among frequent Heathrow users, but the retail offer genuinely does compete at the highest level.
A rising Saudi Arabia
Among the more notable stories outside the top ten, Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport collects the award for World's Most Improved Airport, reflecting the recent opening of its upgraded international Terminal 2. Saudi Arabia's broader airport infrastructure push is beginning to register in passenger satisfaction data.
The World Airport Awards are based on surveys completed by travellers of over 100 nationalities between August 2025 and February 2026, covering more than 575 airports globally.
