Italy's Alta Badia has claimed the coveted Best Overall Ski Resort in Europe in the 2025 Snomad Ski Resort Awards, according to a statement released by the ski comparison website. The rankings, compiled from over 140,000 authentic skier and snowboarder ratings collected throughout the 2024/2025 season, represent a near-doubling from last year's 78,000 responses.
Alta Badia's European crown reflects the resort's reputation for impeccably groomed runs and its position within the sprawling Dolomiti Superski area, which includes access to the famous Sella Ronda circuit.
The resort spans 130 kilometres of pistes across several villages, including Corvara, La Villa, and San Cassiano. It is particularly noted for its mountain dining—boasting 45 restaurant huts in the Alta Badia area alone, some serving Michelin-starred cuisine.
Austrian favourite St Anton am Arlberg reinforced its legendary status by winning Best for Après-Ski in both European and worldwide categories—a distinction that will surprise precisely nobody who's ever witnessed the afternoon revelry at the MooserWirt or Krazy Kanguruh.
Switzerland's Verbier dominated powder skiing, moguls and off-piste categories, whilst neighbouring Austria saw Ischgl win Best for Advanced Skiers and Best for Snowboarding. Italian resort Livigno took Best for Snow Parks, whilst Switzerland's Davos Klosters claimed Best Ski Schools.
Austria continued its strong showing with Bad Gastein winning Best Accommodation Options and Schladming securing Best Groomed Runs. French resorts featured prominently as well, with La Plagne taking Best for Beginners and Peisey Vallandry (Les Arcs/Paradiski) winning Best for Tree Runs. Spain's Baqueira-Beret, meanwhile, claimed Best for Eating Out Options.
In a finding that will resonate with cost-conscious European skiers facing rising holiday expenses, the Andorran resort of Vallnord: Pal-Arinsal won the Best Value award for Europe.
The Snomad awards are based entirely on ratings from verified visitors who have experienced the resorts firsthand.
