From May 2026, passengers will once again be able to travel directly by train from Prague to Copenhagen. The Czech national railway company Ceske drahy (CD) has announced a new direct connection between the two capitals in cooperation with Deutsche Bahn (DB) and DSB, marking a major step in strengthening long-distance rail travel across Europe.
The new route will be operated by CD’s ComfortJet trains and run year-round, with two daily departures in each direction and an additional third service during the summer months. The journey between the Czech and Danish capitals will take around 11 hours, passing through Usti nad Labem, Dresden, Berlin, and Hamburg before reaching Denmark.
A New European Rail Corrido
The Prague–Copenhagen line is part of a broader European initiative to enhance cross-border rail connections. Supported by the European Commission, the route will connect three major capitals — Prague, Berlin and Copenhagen — in a single line, offering new opportunities for travellers exploring Central and Northern Europe by train.
It is the first direct connection between Prague and Copenhagen since 2014, and its reintroduction reflects renewed cooperation between European rail operators as they modernise and expand international services.
The ComfortJet Trains
The new ComfortJet trains represent the latest generation of international rolling stock from Ceske drahy, developed in partnership with Siemens. Designed for long-distance comfort, the trains offer reclining seats, Wi-Fi, power and USB outlets, a restaurant car, and space for bicycles and luggage.
Each train will feature both first- and second-class carriages, as well as family-friendly compartments and accessible areas, and is designed for speeds of up to 230 km/h.
